Silly Song

What Makes You Beautiful Lyrics

You're turning heads when you walk through the door

song sings about girl turning heads when she walks thru door. but like they can’t see she’s hot BEFORE they turn their head. so it doesn’t actually make much sense. or if they could already see her, they don’t have to turn head, yaknow?

You don't know you're beautiful, oh oh,
That's what makes you beautiful

also the song says what makes her beautiful is ignorance of the beautiful face she spent 2 hours in front of a mirror designing before the party. blatant fucking lie? and is that ignorance what ppl r looking at when they turn their heads..?

Everyone else in the room can see it,
Everyone else but you

she'd have to be terribly naive and ignorant to have no clue how people see her. especially given lots of people have told her by hitting on her, singing love songs to her about her beauty, etc. do they want her to be naive about our society's thinking on sex so she's easier to fuck? sounds unrealistic. maybe they just want her to pretend to be naive about it so she seems more like a virgin. a lot of girls do that kinda thing. they put on an act about their sexual inexperience and then lots of guys like fucking them more. it's very silly.

It's an expression that means the person is the center of attention. In a society that values popularity, it's seen as a good thing.

That's not the actual expression guys use in real life. They'll say they are hard or something more sexual like that.

What's your point? The expression is silly and merits criticism.

Elliot criticized a literal interpretation of the expression.

Even as literal interpretation it wasn't very good criticism. I doubt every guy in the party was facing the door. One guy could have been facing the door but others could have to turn their heads before they have seen her.

Another interesting thing you didn't notice is that guys know the girl's face was made up. They know they are being deceived and the beauty can be washed off. So why do they care about it?

where did you get the idea that i didn't notice this?

are you assuming i didn't notice 100% of the things i didn't write down here?

as to the rest i think you make a lot of mistakes (including in various other posts i'm guessing you wrote) and i want to organize the discussion more instead of just replying to every detail you happen to write. let's get some perspective and approach this with a bit of a plan. see:

i can't know what you think if you didn't write it down. you didn't think it worth of mention.

Even taken literally, it's not necessarily silly.

If the girl is walking through a door, she is moving in a direction. If guys see her and think she is pretty, they may *continue to look at her* when she passes their line of sight.

So: Guys are staring. While she is moving. So their heads could turn as she walks.

The expression, taken literally, can make sense.

I guess if you assume "when you walk through the door" only refers to the exact second she passes the threshold this doesn't work.

But if "when you walk through the door" refers to entering the room, walking a few steps, going towards the punch bowl, etc. then it's fine.
